Simple Moments

- Allison running outside night or day (literally middle of the night - 2:30 am last night) whenever she hears an airplane. This is her routine. She'll get so excited - point to the airplane and say 'Hi airplane, bye airplane, come back soon airplane.' Actually he he he - as I am writing this she did it again! I'm a little nervous about the middle of the night thing. She's figured out how to undo the deadbolt on our front door . . . hmmm . . .

- On Wednesday this last week - I have 15 minutes between my 2nd to last piano lesson and my last piano lesson where I run over to my friend's house - who watches the kids - to pick them up. My last piano student arrived a little early and so I was in a bit of a hurry. I got into the car but it wouldn't start (I had forgotten our car broke down earlier that day) - so I ran down the street to her house. As we were leaving I told Allison she needed to put on her 'super-fast' feet as we walked home. She did so and ran really fast while I carried Carter. About half way down she stops, puts her hand to her mouth, and starts giggling. She said, "Mom - my pants fell down! That is so funny! He he he" Sure enough her elmo pants were down around her ankles. She thought it was the funniest thing! She had put on her brand new elmo outfit that morning - which was super cute, but a little on the big side, and I had forgotten to tie the tie around the waist. Anyway - it was a funny moment. :)

- Allison and her friend Taylor chasing each other around the kitchen table and giggling. We watched Nicole and John's kids yesterday while they went to the temple - and Allison and Taylor really hit it off. They played so well together. They spent an hour and a half outside playing in the sand box and on the play equipment together, and Anthony said that at the park they just followed each other up and down the slides.

- Carter's vocabularly really expanded this week. He now says the beloved 'no' all the time. Other words . . . me, eieio, uh-oh, ball, eyes, nose, mouth, (he calls his ears - eyes), more, "O" - he knows and recognizes the letter O, he also says 'I' and 'A', he'll say some animal sounds, Momma, Dadda, Alli. He also loves playing with cars and making engine noises while he plays.

- Carter doing the signs to 'Up on the Housetop'. I'm teaching Allison and her little friends the actions to 'Up on the Housetop' - and Carter knows them so well! It's so cute to see him try to hold his hands over his shoulder like Santa holding his big bag.

- Carter waking up from his nap and saying 'no, no, no' when I try to pick him up. He stands holding onto the side rail and starts jumping on the crib mattress. He loves jumping.

- Carter jumps off of anything and everything. We were reading stories in his room last night - and he jumped off the bed onto the bean bag and laughed and laughed. He did it again - only he caught his head on the bookshelf. He got a little scratch on the side of his eye, cried for a second and then was off again.

- Carter and Anthony and Allison playing 'monster' on the floor - and Carter (in slow motion), on all fours, putting one hand forward, lifting the opposite leg high in the air, and then doing the other leg and arm - like a monster.

- Allison, when taking Dad to work this week, having a conversation with herself in the back seat. Keeping herself entirely entertained.

- Allison, on our trip back from Walmart late at night, asking to put the towel that we had in the back seat over her head . . . and falling asleep 2 seconds later. He loves sleeping in the car with a towel or blanket over her head.

That's great that you and Nicole live close enough to each other that you can see each other once in awhile. It's like a little piece of Logan in Colorado!
